Notifications using non-ASCII characters show up with only a title
  • blundenblunden August 2011

I'm using a script to send me notifications when someone highlights me when I'm set to away. It works fine, showing me the message and a title describing the type of message if it only contains ASCII characters. As soon as the person writing me uses anything like åäö (usually sent as either ISO-8859-1/15 or UTF-8) I get an empty notification (with only a title). Since I'm from Sweden that ends up happening a lot.

Is there some limitation of the supported encodings for the notifications or something like that or is it something else?

I wrote a simple test app in Java to see if the same problem happened when sending it that way and it does. It only shows up as a notification with label, title but no message.

I did not notice this bug report at first, sorry for my duplicate. Though in my issue no notification at all arrives, not even a partial one.
