Problems with user to use messaging on iOS 3.1
  • elegant_chaoselegant_chaos September 2010

I tried out the new user-to-user messaging with my wife, who's still on iOS 3.1 and there are problems on her phone. She gets notifications, but when she goes into the app cannot see any of the conversation. Also, on the Conversations tab it shows two conversations, one with my name and one with her name. Clicking on either of those brings up an empty conversation.

Are the new features supposed to work on iOS 3.1?

    Thanks,
    Bob

Hi Bob - Can you try logging out and then back in on the iOS 3.1 device. Then send another user message. If it doesn't load try doing pull down to refresh while in the conversations tab.

Sorry for the inconvenience - please let me know if this helps. I have experienced that once before.

Chad is the iOS guru around here but is traveling today/tmrw. He'll chime in soon if you still have this issue.

    Best,
    Paul

Cool, that worked. There was a strange hiccup, but it now seems to be working consistently. Here's a description of the hiccup:

I logged out on her phone, logged back in, sent a new message to my phone and then a response from my phone back to hers. I then did a pull down to refresh, clicked on my name and saw the complete conversation, so that worked. I then closed the app on her phone and sent her a new message from my phone. I got the notification on her phone, but when I clicked the "view" button I was again taken to an empty conversation, and when I clicked "back" I saw the two conversations listed again. I tried going into each conversation and both were blank.

However, when I tried to test that again everything seemed to work, so it all seems to be working now, but some strangeness occurred.

    Thanks for your help,
    Bob
