Sending notification from web UI fails with "A Database Error Occurred"

Repro steps:
1. go to http://notifo.com/service/console_send/1383
2. enter "jm3" as user, "test" as event title, "hello" as message, leave optional URL blank.
4. press "Send Notification"

Browser: tested in Chrome and Safari with the same result.
